Early Life & Education
Born on March 20, 1984, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Justine grew up fascinated by computers, design, and technology from an early age. She is the oldest of 3 girls and as a child in the ’90s, she began teaching herself HTML and graphic design, and building websites long before social media existed.
After high school, she attended Pittsburgh Technical Institute, where she graduated in 2004 with a degree in Multimedia. Her creative eye and tech knowledge led her to freelance work in video editing and graphic designs, skills that would later become the backbone of her YouTube success.
Rise to Fame
In 2006, Justine posted her first YouTube video — a small step that would lead to a massive career. But her real breakthrough came in 2007, when she became one of the first people to lifecast her everyday life 24/7 through Justin.tv, years before Twitch and IRL streaming became mainstream.
She also found herself as a finalist on the Yahoo! Talent show, an experimental online competition that showcased emerging digital personalities. Hosted on Yahoo’s video platform, long before YouTube had fully dominated the space, the series aimed to find the next breakout internet star through viewer voting and short-form creative challenges.
Though the Yahoo! Talent Show was short-lived and unfortunately she didn’t end up winning, it marked a pivotal early moment in Justine’s career — one that proved her creative instincts and screen presence could captivate audiences across platforms. It was a glimpse into the possibilities of her future in content creation future.
Not long after in 2007, she uploaded a video called “300-page iPhone bill,” documenting her massive AT&T phone bill after getting the first iPhone. The clip went viral overnight, racking up millions of views and earning coverage on global news outlets.
With her new found fame and confidence that there was a future in online video creation, she continued to upload videos on any website that would allow. Realizing this was a new internet era where anyone could broadcast their life to the world. But, could she make this an actual career?
Career Expansion & YouTube Legacy
Following her viral moment, iJustine transitioned from posting silly one off videos to producing more polished, edited videos that showcased her personality and passions. She made videos on everything from technology, Apple products, gaming, travel, and lifestyle content.
Her YouTube channel, launched in 2006, now has over 7 million subscribers and over a 1.5 billion lifetime views. Over the years, she has built a reputation as one of the internet’s most trusted voices in tech, known for her authentic reactions to new gadgets and her ability to explain complex technology with clarity and excitement.
Beyond YouTube, Justine has appeared on television and streaming shows, including The Vampire Diaries, Criminal Minds, Law & Order: SVU, The Guild, The Celebrity Apprentice, Chopped, The Wedding Ringer, Annoying Orange and Escape Routes. She also has competed and hosted an episode of the Price is Right!
A lifelong gamer, she also hosted numerous Call of Duty events, championship broadcasts, major launch livestreams, and appeared in the cinematic Black Ops II live-action trailer, “Surprise,” directed by Guy Ritchie and featuring Robert Downey Jr. — she has noted on many occasions as this project being a dream come true to be featured in her favorite video game. She was also the host of the first ever Fortnite Pro-Am and one of 3 people who own a life size Xbox refrigerator.
In 2015, she published her New York Times best selling book, I, Justine: An Analog Memoir — a candid reflection on her early days online, the challenges of being a woman in tech, and how she stayed true to herself while navigating fame in the digital world.
She hosted many various web shows including multiple seasons of AOL’s Hardwired that combined documentary-style storytelling with iJustine’s signature curiosity and energy. She met with inventors, engineers, and entrepreneurs to give audiences an inside look at how cutting-edge tech is built and why it matters
In 2016, she appeared as a judge on NBC’s The Celebrity Apprentice, hosted by Arnold Schwarzenegger. She brought her trademark creativity, professionalism, and tech-savvy energy to the boardroom.

Throughout her career, iJustine has earned numerous accolades as well as one particularly adorable award for her beloved dog, In 2011 she won a Webby Award for Best Web Personality/Host and in 2015, she received the Streamy Award for Best Technology Creator. Most recently in 2024 and 2025 she was named a Forbes Top 50 Creator.
And proving that talent runs in the family, Matty, her Bichon/Poodle and frequent co-star, earned the title of 2016 “Puppy of the Year” at the World Dog Awards presented by George Lopez.
